Gorge Walking Wales is owned & operated by Black Mountain Adventure who have over 30 years of experience & knowledge in the outdoor industry. They are also one of the very first commercial operators who started offering professional gorge walking here in South Wales back in the early 1990s.
Our gorge walking adventure days are simply legendary and offer an exciting, challenging experience for everyone aged 8 – 80. Wales is one of the top destinations in the whole of the UK for gorge walking, with the Brecon Beacons National Park offering some of the best mountains and rivers for us to play in and explore together.
What is gorge walking all about?
If traversing along rock walls, jumping across boulders, scrambling waterfalls, exploring dark holes in the ground (only for the intrepid), crawling behind waterfalls & jumping in to plunge pools sounds like it’ll get your blood pumping, then this is the ultimate adventure activity for you! Under the supervision of your experienced instructor and equipped with a wetsuit, buoyancy aid & helmet, you will be guided up river where the fun will begin.
Suitable for both kids and adults, this gorge walking adventure day will push you outside of your comfort zone, have you reaching goals you never thought possible and give you an adventure experience to remember for a lifetime. And all within a safe and controlled environment led by our experienced gorge waling team of guides.
Need an extra adrenaline shot? Then you can opt for our Full Day Gorge Adventure which is jam packed full of jumps, challenges & of course great fun, but the day wouldn’t be complete without taking the final plunge at ‘Loonies Leap’ – the 18ft Waterfall Jump!

Adults
Full Day – £70pp
Half Day – £50pp
Kids (8yrs – 15yrs)
Full Day – £65pp
Half Day – £45pp
Mix & Match Days from – £75pp (Combine 2 activities into one day)
Prices includes full safety kit & equipment and fully trained & qualified instructor. Group discounts are available for groups of 8 or more. Discounted Family rates during half terms – get in touch for details.
Session Times
Morning (half day) – 10:00AM to 12:30PM
Afternoon (half day) – 1:15PM to 3:45PM
Full Day – 10:00AM to 4:00PM
What to bring with you?
For your gorge adventure, we will provide you with:
- 5mm Wetsuit
- Buoyancy Aid
- Helmet
- & Pools of fun! (no pun intended)
You will need to bring:
- Swimwear
- A towel
- Trainers or Walking boots (no wetsuit shoes, jelly shoes or wellington boots please!)
- Loads of enthusiam
Footwear can be provided if you do not have sensible shoes or ones that you mind getting wet & muddy. Sizes are limited, so footwear will need to be arranged ahead of time. Let us know what you need.
Where to meet?
Location
Our Gorge Adventure takes place at the famous Ystradfellte Waterfalls area, approx. 45 minutes from our main activity centre.
You will meet your instructor at the gorge location where changing facilities are available. The gorge takes place at:
